Coex Intercontinental Hotel, SeoulCustom Designed Automatic Revolving Doors
International Revolving Doors will make you a high quality, customized automatic door that will enhance your building's design and impress your customers..
First though, a few terms and definitions. The terms below are common to the industry:
The entire door is termed as - one revolving door. A "wing" is each one of the revolving door sections separating the multiple compartments. For example, a 3-wing design has three revolving compartments; and a 4-wing design (the most common) has four compartments. The wings usually attach to a "center shaft".
The arced sides surrounding the wings and compartments are called the "walls". There are usually two walls, allowing for an "interior" opening side and an "exterior" side.
Above, is the "canopy", or "cornice". Its top is the "roof". Its bottom, visible to your customers when inside the door, is the "ceiling".
Please see the illustration to the left for the names of other principle components.
IRD Automatic Door Features:
- Wing mounted start-up sensors start the revolving door turning automatically when the pedestrian accesses the door. (For high-volume traffic times the door can be set to continuous revolving operation.)
- Backstop safety sensors are designed to help stop the wings from hitting a stopped pedestrian.
- Wing collapsing sensors stop the entire door if a wing collapses out of normal position to the side. (Please see Design Features regarding "wing collapsing pressure" and emergencies.)
- Optional outside stile sensors (usually placed above) both initiate door motion as a pedestrian approaches and inhibit the possibility of being hit while trying to enter.
- Built-in speakers above, with lights in each compartment's ceiling area, allow security to notify a pedestrian in case of stoppage.
Motor controls are typically mounted above, within the canopy (or cornice). This area needs to be at least 12 inches deep in order to house the motor, speed controller, and associated electronics. It is possible to mount these components below, but this is usually not recommended due to daily dust accumulation, the danger of storm damage if the door is at the building's entrance, and inhibited or lack of access for maintenance panels.
Automatic door sizes range from smaller 4-wing Saturn (inside diameter: 6'6" to 10'6"), to Titan (inside diameter: 9'6" to 11'0"), and on up to Jupiter (inside diameter: 11'6" to 16'0") designs. Comparably sized 3-wing designs are also available. We will custom design your automatic door to fit your specifications!
Controlled Access Revolving Doors
Construction Details
An IRD controlled access revolving door combines the security of a guard station with the energy savings of a revolving door. The money you save in reduced guard costs alone can often pay for the security door within its first year of operation.
You don't need to compromise appearance for security.
An IRD Security Door, using a Saturn or Comet design door with a 12 inch minimum ceiling height (to enclose the motor and associated electronics), can be manufactured in an unlimited combination of colors, sizes, materials, options and security activation types. Choose from a wide variety of standard features or allow us to custom manufacture a door to your exact specifications.
Our Security Doors are Automatic Doors - with all of their features, but with customer-controlled access, selective in either One-Way or Two-Way operation.
