Uncompromised User Safety User safety is considered first and foremost in the design of all International Revolving Door products. Speed control and emergency collapsing mechanisms are only a few of our many standard features that ensure safe, simple operation.
We custom build our doors - according to your specifications. In the photo to the right a bronze cornice (a.k.a: canopy) is completed and being prepared for shipment. The (bottom) ceiling side is facing us. It is one of two symetrical doors (hence the flat side on top that will adjoin to the other door). Note also the small center hole for the center shaft.

All door workings for either a manual or automatic door are installed out of the public's view, yet may be accessed from above for periodic maintenance.

Testing Programmable ElectronicsManual or Automatic Designs A revolving door can be of a manual (user-pushed) or automatic (electronically-controlled) design.
For a manual door a canopy with a minimum of 3 1/8 inches deep is needed for the speed control mechanism.
For an automatic or security door a minimum of 12 inches deep in the canopy is required for the motor and all electronics.
Wooden manual revolving doors are also an IRD specialty. We regularly restore old wood rotating doors on existing structures, bringing new life and lustre.

That pays for itself in Energy SavingsRevolving doors are the most efficient method of controlling stack pressure and reducing heating and cooling costs. Vestibule arrangements, at best, allow five times more unwanted air to infiltrate the inside environment than revolving doors, depending upon traffic rate. Revolving doors also allow you to design around smaller capacity heating/cooling equipment.
Revolving doors, convenient and safe to use, add architectural interest while paying for themselves in energy savings.
Besides lower heating and cooling costs, a revolving door significantly reduces or eliminates outside noises while allowing persons to pass through unimpeeded. A blustery storm outside may push hard on the door, but not cause the door to rotate thus limiting or eliminating its effects on those inside. And again, all the while persons can pass through as desired.
