First though, a few terms and definitions. The terms below are common to the industry:

The entire door is termed
as - one revolving door.
A "wing" is each one of the revolving door sections separating the multiple compartments. For example, a 3-wing design has three revolving compartments; and a 4-wing design (the most common) has four compartments. The wings usually attach to a "center shaft". The arced sides surrounding the wings and compartments are called the "walls". There are usually two walls, allowing for an "interior" opening side and an "exterior" side. Above, is the "canopy", or "cornice". Its top is the "roof". Its bottom, visible to your customers when inside the door, is the "ceiling". doors are safe for use by people of all ages.
0ur manual speed control device controls acceleration and limits the speed of the door to 12 rpm. The control is guaranteed for five years and will be adjusted, repaired or replaced should it fail to perform to specifications. Every IRD revolving door is equipped with a manual speed control (or automatic electronically-controlled speed design) system. |
Installed in either the ceiling or floor onto the center shaft, this device limits the turning speed of the door to approximately 12 rpm. It not only prevents people from free-spinning the door but also reacts against impatient pushers or shovers. Operating in an oil bath, the unit has a 100-1 braking ratio and fits into an overhead space only three inches high.
Saturn & Comet Door Designs
Our standard Saturn design revolving doors meet architects' specifications for a clean, smooth design with a minimum number of joints and fasterners. Welded wing construction and fully welded enclosure walls on stainless or bronze models provide strength. Using stainless steel frames guarantees better protection against rust, warping, and weathering.
The Comet design (like Saturn, with inside diameters available from: 6'6" to 10'6") is an all-glass entrance, with no-vertical-stiles in its design. The Comet door blends in perfectly with glass-front business centers and shopping malls.

Our drafting engineers will work with your customer and architect to specify customized revolving door details and create the drawings to be approved. International can create a push bar of your design. Choose round pushbars, bars of contrasting metals, pushbars attached through the glass plates, etc. Doors can be designed to match storefronts, curtain walls, other doors, and the exterior lines of the building.
