Restrticted Entry ControlPhoenix Doors - from International Revolving Doors
Automatic Doors with Enhanced Security FeaturesAn IRD Phoenix Security Door is an Automatic Door, with access control features added to restrict access and to control pedestrian flow. Please see the Automatic Door Section for more information.
International Revolving Doors makes the most secure and technologically advanced Security Doors in the revolving door industry. Our customers include government agencies, major industrial complexes, manufacturing facilities, financial centers, and other office locations requiring restricted access.
Each person enters one at a time through the restricted access compartments. Door motion can be triggered by your choice of activation methods: Card Key, retina scan, fingerprint analysis, security guard button, voice recognition, key pad, or other security measures.
Anti-tailgating or backstop sensors can halt the door to inhibit unauthorized access. Wing-mounted sensors actively scan all compartments during motion.
Door security can be set to either one-way or two-way restricted access. For example, your site may need restricted access for entry, but allow for unrestricted exiting. Or, you may need to restrict traffic flow in both directions. See IRD's Design Features for information on emergency situations.
Electro-magnetic wing locks maintain wing positions directly beneath carrier arms, unless there is an emergency requiring that the wings collapse to open all compartments.

Phoenix Security Revolving Doors
Operational DetailsAn IRD controlled access security revolving door combines the security of a guard station with the energy savings of a revolving door. The money you save in reduced guard costs alone can often pay for the IRD door within its first year of operation.
You don't need to compromise appearance for security. A 12 inch minimum ceiling canopy height (to house the motor and electronics above), can be manufactured in an unlimited combination of colors, sizes, materials, options and security activation types. Choose from a wide variety of standard features or allow us to custom manufacture a door to your exact specifications.
Your security and architectural needs are extremely important to us. Discussing your facility's unique needs with a security expert familiar with your site will help ensure that your requirements are expertly met and accurately quoted. Do not simply prepare a general door specification sheet, as that can result in wasted time and expense, as well as a less than optimum door for your needs.
IRD has the expertise to help you accurately define your needs. Most importantly, our operational features are programmable, allowing us to design the operational features of the door to your exact application requirements. Call us for a personal consultation. We'd be happy to sit down with your architect, security personnel and building administrator to define your security and operational needs.
Unlimited Potential - To Fit Your Customized Needs!
IRD's controlled access security revolving doors are designed to fit a multitude of security applications. Select from a wide range of features and options to design the optimum security door for your application.
IRD Phoenix Security Door Features and Options
Access Indicator Lights - A set of lights on card access doors to facilitate operation.
Activation - Rotation can be triggered by virtually any customer-selected system that provides a dry, closed contact including: microwave, pushbutton, card-reader, keypad, fingerprint scanner, and retina-reader.
Anti-Piggybacking - This prevents an unauthorized user passing through the door in the section behind an authorized user.
Anti-Tailgating - This prevents an unauthorized user passing through the door in the section behind an authorized user.
Card Stacking - The presentation of several cards one after another without waiting for a door quadrant to be available.
Continuous Operation - Continuous passage, when opted for, through the door without requiring the door to stop.
Drivetrain (Gearbox) - Motor and controls operate a worm gear drive.
Electrical Requirements - 110 VAC 10 amp. 60 Hz power supply is required through a dedicated line to eliminate electrical interference. (For Europe or much of Asia, 220 VAC, at 50 Hz is used.)
Encoder Based Signals For Wing Positioning - Positive positioning ofthe door wings by means of an encoder.
Fabrication - Doors can be provided in virtually any architectural design, metal or combination of metals. Due to the nature of the electronics and the size of the operator unit, there is a 12 inch minimum depth on the cornice/canopy height.
Handicap Speed Regulation - Half normal operating speed.
High Voltage Runaway Relay - Safety feature preventing a hazardous speed increase.
Motor - A 1/4 HP 90 VDC motor controlled by a full wave, four-quadrant regenerative DC motor drive.
Next Logical Quadrant - The second open quadrant, and each subsequent quadrant of the door.
Reversing of Wings - IRD patented feature, to reverse the door's revolving motion if necessary.
Safety Wing Collapsing Feature - International Revolving Door Company patented feature, to (non-damaging) "break" the wings to the side in case of emergency.
Entrapment Prevention - of Pedestrian in Closed Section of Door (See features below.)
Programmable Logic - Computer logic programs which can be altered to provide custom features.
Ramping - lndependently adjustable acceleration/deceleration controls.
Smoke and Fire Alarm Activation - Door positions itself for maximum passage upon activation of a smoke or other emergency alarm.
Speed Control - lndependently adjustable in both counterclockwise and clockwise directions.
Torque Limiting - Independently adjustable torque sensing in both counterclockwise and clockwise directions.
One-Way or Two-Way Controlled Access
Phoenix-Alpha One-way Security Door
One-way automatic security is common, for restricted access to a facility. Persons entering the door from one direction (usually from the interior side) will pass through freely, while persons entering from the opposite direction (from the exterior) will have restricted access.
Airports are common users of one-way security doors, where there is one-way traffic and a need for security in one direction (for entry) only.
A three-wing configuration is available for a one-way security door, providing larger compartment size for greater comfort. The larger compartments are especially useful when maneuvering cumbersome objects such as luggage or wheelchairs. But note that this option (of a 3-wing design) is not available for a Two-Way Security door.
A day/night mode of operation is also available.
This timing program allows the revolving door to act as a security door only during pre-determined hours of the day. The door then offers free access from both directions during the remainder of the day. A sports venue, for example, may unlock the door operations just as the event concludes to then allow for free passage from both directions.
Phoenix-Beta Two-Way Security Door
IRD will also custom build a two-way security door for you, i.e. controlling access from both directions. The Beta model features a large capacity programmable controller to customize the door characteristics to your individual facility or security needs.
All of the features available on the one-way IRD Security Door is also available for the two-way door (except for the 3-wing design option). In addition, the two-way door provides host computer output options and it can be programmed to work with card reader (or code access) systems that are equipped with anti-passback features.
Anti-passback - eliminates the possibility of one valid card or access code being used to make multiple entries. Once used to activate a door for entry, the card is invalidated for either a predetermined amount of time or until the card is used to exit the system.
Every IRD Security Door is equipped with electro-magnetic wing locks to prevent their (non-damaging) collapsing (wing "breaks") to the side, unless there is an emergency triggered electronically, to then disable the wing locks.
